What makes xDiscount different from other discount apps?

One source of truth. Every discount lives in a single product metafield, written only by xDiscount's own validated action. The Shopify Function that prices the cart at checkout and the storefront offer card that shows the shopper the deal both read that same record, and nothing is written by the browser, so a shopper's device can never influence the price they pay. The price the card promises is the price checkout charges, because both read the same record.

What kinds of discounts can I run?

Accepted Answer

Four, and they are all ready to run. Percentage off takes a percent off the products you target, clamped between 0 and 100. Fixed amount off takes an amount in your store's currency off each item on the line, so $10 off on a line of three takes off $30, and on a multi-currency store checkout converts it at Shopify's own rate rather than guessing. Buy X get Y discounts a gift line already in the cart, and the shopper adds that gift from the storefront offer card, so it needs the card on your theme, which is included on every plan. Free shipping is a delivery-target discount, evaluated separately from your cart lines.

What rules can I put on a discount?

Accepted Answer

Item quantity, with a minimum and maximum item count over the whole cart. Cart value, with a minimum and maximum cart subtotal in your store currency. And inventory, with a minimum and maximum stock level, judged per product variant and resolved on the server before checkout rather than in the cart. Each type can be used once per discount, every bound is inclusive, and any row can be negated. Conditions combine with AND and OR that folds strictly top to bottom, with no hidden precedence, and an inventory row always joins with AND because it can only narrow the discount. Dates are not a condition: they live in the discount's own Discount period, on your store's timezone.

How does xDiscount decide which discount applies?

Accepted Answer

Priority. When several discounts match the same item, the one with the lowest priority number wins and the rest are ignored for that line, so only one product discount ever applies per item and nothing stacks quietly in the background. New discounts start at priority 10. Free shipping is decided separately, so a line can be discounted and the order can still ship free, which also means a free shipping or buy X get Y discount with a lower number than your percentage discount will suppress it on that product.

What happens when the schedule is running in a different timezone?

Schedules are evaluated against your store's timezone, and the admin tells you whose calendar you are picking on while you set the dates. Both bounds are inclusive, so a promotion that ends on a date runs through that date, and a one-day window is a valid window rather than an empty one.

Where does the offer show up in my store?

Accepted Answer

On the product page, through the storefront offer card. It is a theme app extension you place from the theme editor with no code, it is server-rendered Liquid so it carries no client-side price logic, and it renders the offer, its conditions in plain words, an Ends today countdown on a discount's final day, and the gift picker for buy X get Y. It adopts your theme's design, and it is included on every plan.

How are discounts applied at checkout?

By a Shopify Function running inside Shopify's own discount pipeline, on cart lines and on delivery. There are no scripts injected into your theme, no cart rewriting, and no checkout hacks. Because the Function and the offer card read the same record, the storefront and checkout cannot drift apart.

What happens if something goes wrong with a rule?

The two halves fail in opposite directions, on purpose. The Function fails closed: an unknown rule, a malformed record, or a condition it cannot evaluate produces no discount, because a wrong discount costs you money on every order. The storefront card fails open: it would rather show than vanish, because a card that shows too often is visible and fixable, while a hidden one just looks like a broken app.

How do I know a promotion actually worked?

Accepted Answer

Four tiles over today, the last 7, 30 or 90 days, or a custom range: revenue, discounted orders, average order value and conversion rate, with a chart of any one metric and a By day table underneath. A metric chip narrows the chart and the table to the storefront's approximate figures or to Shopify's exact ones, a second chip filters every number on the page by discount type, and history reaches back 250 days. Product views, added to cart, checkouts started, checkouts seen and revenue come from a consent-aware storefront pixel that carries zero shopper identifiers and is never used for advertising, so they are honestly labelled approximate. Discounted orders comes from Shopify's own signed order webhook and is exact, and it is the same number your plan meters, so a forged storefront request structurally cannot bill you. There is a Revenue figure, and it is honestly labelled: it is the storefront pixel's view of the checkout totals on discounted checkouts, so it reads low and is never used for billing. For accounting, xDiscount stamps every order it discounted with the campaign name, so you group your own Shopify sales reports by order.metafields.xdiscount.campaign rather than trusting a second set of numbers from us. There is no breakdown by individual discount.

Do I need an AI subscription or an API key?

Accepted Answer

No. xDiscount sells no AI subscription and stores no provider keys. You generate a key in the app's Settings screen, under Connect AI, paste it into the assistant you already use as a bearer token, and point it at the /mcp endpoint on your app's URL. Only a one-way hash of the key is stored, so it is shown once and you can revoke or regenerate it at any time. Whatever you pay your AI provider stays between you and them. Connect AI is included on every plan, Free included.

What can a connected assistant actually do?

It works through typed tools only, and it never writes a metafield directly. Every write goes through the same validated action the admin interface uses. It can read your discounts and your daily performance figures, create and update discounts, replace their conditions, and publish, unpublish, archive or delete them. It cannot choose the products a discount applies to, because you do that yourself in Discounts. Anything it creates arrives as a draft whatever status it asked for, a live discount must be unpublished before it can be edited, and publish, unpublish, archive and delete are flagged destructive so clients that support approvals ask you first. Your plan's active-discount limit applies to the AI route exactly as it does in the admin, and Connect AI itself is included on every plan.

Do all features cost extra?

Almost nothing does. All four discount types, the full rules engine, the Shopify Function at checkout, the storefront offer card, Connect AI and the analytics screen are on every plan, Free included. One thing is plan-bound: priority support, on Scale. Beyond that, plans differ by how many discounts can be active at once and how many discounted orders are included each month. The billable unit is a discounted order, an order where xDiscount actually reduced the price, so your cost rises exactly when your benefit does, and on paid plans overage stops at a monthly cap you approve in advance.

Yes. xDiscount is on the Shopify App Store, and every store starts on the Free plan: 3 active discounts, 50 discounted orders a month, no card required and no overage ever. There is no free trial anywhere: Free is genuinely free for as long as you stay on it, and a paid plan starts billing when you approve the charge on Shopify. Founder pricing is open, and founding merchants lock in lifetime founder pricing.
